Meet My 'AI Employee' (And The Human Behind It)
Share
Hi, I am Megan, and I quietly hired my first AI employee a couple of years ago.
Not a robot in a movie. Not a shiny startup tool. A behind the scenes teammate that helps me survive my 9 to 5, build my next chapter, and live with bipolar disorder without burning out completely.
This space is for people like you if:
- You are trying to escape the grind or at least make it less soul crushing
- You are curious about AI but allergic to hype, scams, and “6 figures in 6 days” promises
- Your brain does not always cooperate (mental health, neurodivergence, executive function struggles) and you need real support, not guilt
Here is what “AI employee” means in my world:
A strategic co-planner: I bring big messy dreams like “leave my 9 to 5 by 2026” and it helps me break them into timelines, milestones, and tiny next steps.
A writing and thinking partner: I write about mental health, open education, and organizational wellness. My AI employee helps me turn brain dumps into drafts, drafts into clarity, and clarity into things that actually help people.
An accessibility tool for my brain: On days when bipolar, anxiety, or overwhelm are loud, I use AI to scaffold my thinking, organize tasks, and gently restart my momentum. It does not replace therapy, meds, or humans. It just means I do not have to do every cognitive heavy lift alone.
A builder of open things: I work in open education. I care a lot about access, transparency, and sharing knowledge freely. I use AI to design open resources, games, and learning experiences that real humans can actually use, not just stare at.
My core values here:
Open learning: Knowledge should not be locked up behind paywalls, jargon, or ego. I will share what I am learning in public.
Open working: I will be honest about when and how I use AI. No pretending I did everything “by hand.” No gatekeeping.
Human first, AI second: AI is a tool that supports human dignity, mental health, and creative work. Not a replacement for people. Not an excuse to exploit workers.
Mental health is not a side note: I live with bipolar disorder, and that experience shapes how I work, plan, rest, and create. You will see that thread running through everything here.
What you can expect from this account:
- Behind the scenes of how I actually use my AI employee on work projects, personal projects, and life logistics
- Honest reflections on leaving the grind slowly and strategically, while still needing a paycheck
- Templates, prompts, and workflows you can steal to make your own life and work lighter
- Conversations about ethics, boundaries, and using AI without losing yourself
If you are:
- Burned out but stuck
- Curious about AI and unsure where to start
- Trying to build something more human on the other side of your current job
You are in the right place.
Drop a comment and tell me where you are right now:
Still deep in the grind, slowly plotting your escape, or already experimenting with your own “AI employee”?
I am glad you are here. Let’s figure this out together.
